      Because brown’s the colour that all your food makes when it’s mixed together. If all you ate from beetroot it would be beetroot coloured.

      Also dead red blood cells contribute to the brown colour. Red blood cells turn brown when they die which you have probably seen without realising it in an bruise a couple of days old.
