This is another one of those debated ones. Some people think it aids ventilation, others think it helps spread our scent which helped humans attract mates back in the olden days before lynx was invented. It’s strange how trends change.
I think that due to the fact that arm pit hair doesn’t grow until puberty that it roles in the ancient past was to attract a mate. Which is quite funny, as nowdays armpit hair in women is generally thought to be unattractive.
