  Tycho Brahe! He lost his nose in a sword duel over mathematical equations and had it replaced by one made with solid gold. He also had a pet moose which died when he got it drunk and it fell down the stairs. You should look him up.

  Patrick Moore is my favourite astronomer, I remember watching the Night Sky from a very young age. Its a great programme if you have seen it.
