Interesting question, the very first experiment I remember doing was with cress. Im sure a lot of people do this at school, I grew some cress in lot of different conditions and see what cress needed to grow well.

I came across science as a child, trying to understand how to repair my radio set, only to find out that electricity from your mains plug is not the same as a sound signal coming though your earphones… one is AC and one is DC… and they run at very different voltages! (which is why I blew up my radio… :P). I blew up lots of things that way… a toaster, an iron… now I understand electricity very well 🙂

I’m sure I did science at school from a very early age but the thing I first remember is my chemistry set and making copper sulphate crystals. So blue and pretty.
