The experiment that springs to my mind, is quite a complex one but I think its my favourite because it involved using some fancy (for a biologist) equipment and gave a really interesting result. I used a machine called a high content imager, which is a really clever microscope attached to a robot. I used this machine to take thousands photos of my cells at different times after I gave them DNA damage. From this I could see how much DNA damage individual cells and used this information to work how fast my cells fixed their DNA, and that cells were slower at fixing the damage if they were missing a particular protein.
