      In a giant spaceship!

No, not really. Humans evolved from other apes about 200,000 years ago and then there was about 3.5 billion years of evolution leading up to that from the first life form on Earth.

Evolution is the view scientist shares about how humans came into existence. It is believed that all living things on earth evolved from the same common ancestor.

More recently, technology has improved and we can use DNA to learn more about evolution. For example, comparing DNA sequences of humans and chimpanzees revealed humans share 98% of their DNA with chimps. Looking at the bits that are different can tell scientist when these two species last shared a common ancestor.
