I enjoy my job a lot, but it is hard work and not for everyone. If you have an interest in science and finding out new things being a scientist might be the career for you. I don’t think anyone goes into science for the money but you can earn a decent wage.

Working in science is really cool. You get to work on projects that are absolutely hi-tech, people will think you are a genius. For conferences and working with teams in other countries you travel the world and meet some of the brightest people, and go to some beautiful places. You could work with some of the most hi-tech, expensive machines in the world, and advance human knowledge to solve some of the world’s biggest problems. So yeah it’s alright. The money is better working for a company than in a university, but I need to complete my PhD studies here at university before I go into that. PhD graduates get more money than masters and bachelors graduates, and a lot more than people who don’t go to university (usually). In a university the working hours are what you want, you come and go when it suits you. More and more scientific companies are doing this now too.
