People get stressed for a variety of reasons; work, family, money etc.

In your body stress causes a surge of hormones in the body, mainly adrenaline and cortisol. Cortisol gives you energy by releasing glucose into the blood stream and adrenaline increases your heart rate and raises blood pressure. These hormones can be good for a short amount of time as they help you cope with any threats, long term they are bad for your body.

The simple answer is because people don’t feel in control of things around them. As people get more responsibilities, they set themselves goals to achieve – in terms of money, success, recognition, family life… etc… If they don’t feel they are meeting their goals, they can feel stressed… unnecessarily! Indeed, so many things are not under our control but we still want to control them… we make assumptions about how other people feel around us… but we can’t really know what is going on in their minds… hence again we feel a lack of control.

Stress is very bad for the human body – it generates hormones in your body and increase your blood pressure… so take a chill pill (i.e., relax)!
