• Question: why are we taking scarce resources from the people who need them most?

      This is difficult to answer. If you are talking about oil or diamonds for example, in many African countries, these are mined by big companies and exploited… but the local population will probably have no use for these…they need basic things (health, education, infrastructure). The only way they can get these is through trade with other countries…that’s why they sell their resources.

      I agree with Gopal, these countries aren’t set up to handle the resources, they don’t have the technology or infrastructure to use them so they have to sell them to make any use of them. I do feel that they are exploited to some extent but the countries depend on the income from these resources so its a difficult thing to change.
