Question: What is the most common type of cancer and why?
Asked by n3rdy to Becky on 25 Jun 2013.
answered on 25 Jun 2013:
Breast, lung, prostate and bowel cancers are the most common they make up about half the cancers diagnosed in the UK. Lung cancer is so common because of smoking.
Vince commented on 25 Jun 2013:
Yeah, smoking is really, really bad.
All cancers, and a bunch of other illnesses are made a lot more likely by smoking. e.g.: it messes with your blood vessels.
It’s basically putting a load of toxins in your body. Don’t ever do it, it kills.

“it kills” I wish everyone knew what the effects are and maybe then the number of lung cancers will decrease and reduce the harm of second hand smoke which is potentially more dangerous.
Becky commented on 26 Jun 2013:
I think a lot of smokers are aware of the effects, they are jsut addicted and they find it difficult to give it up. We need to stop people from starting smoking. There is currently a campaign for plain packs of cigarettes to take away the last piece of advertising tobacco companies can use to get people to smoke.
How many different types of cancer are there?
can we do anything to decrease the chances of getting cancer?
what kind of cancer cells do you discover??
do you find breast cancer cells?
