If you want to get into gaming, you have to know how to program first. Then, you’d need to learn how to create a good game engine that makes the game increasingly hard/interesting as you progress. Then, you’d obviously need to make it look good and simple to play (mind you some players like complex games with lots of personalisation options). If you want to program console games, you’d need to learn low level languages like C and for mobile phones you’d need to learn Java (Android) and Objective C 2.0 (iOS).
