  Ah, that’s difficult. I haven’t begun to learn all the features MATLAB has. It’s got toolboxes for everything, including neural networks like I work with, but I don’t use them. I guess it would be better if it was open source, that stuff is expensive.

  I’d like to get a programming language that let’s me express my goals at a high level without needing me to express every single step to solve my problem… the program should be able to figure out what I want to do. Call it an intelligent programming language!

True , I just managed to check out some of the tools at http://www.mathworks.co.uk/products/matlab/ – and as you say it indeed is very expensive.
