Babies are made when a human ova (or egg) meets a human sperm cell. They form one cell which slowly started to reduplicate over and over in a woman’s womb and gradually become a foetus and eventually a baby.

As the cells divide to form a foetus, they begin to change and form the tissues and organs that make up a baby. This process is called cell differentiation and is a very complex process involving many different genes.
