I earn enough to live in London, do the things I want to, eat nice food and go on holiday. I do not earn anywhere near enough to own a my own private jet and hundreds of diamonds!

Nope, but I’m just a trainee scientist; I’m a PhD student, so they pay me some money. My next job I hope I’ll earn a lot more, I wont settle for a small amount, more than average. After that, when I have many years of experience, I should be earning way above average salary. I like to grow quickly with my skills, and in my career.

As an academic I see it this way….. I get paid to do something I enjoy every day – so I can only be very happy that I get paid at all! Academics are not as well paid as bankers but they do have more flexibility (working times, longer holidays etc..).

I earn a lot more as a phd student in Belgium than I would in the UK. So I do get paid a lot more than some of my friends and I always have enough money to go nice places.
