      The genetics behind what makes someone ginger is fairly well understood, particular variants of the MC1R gene lead to gingerness if inherited from both the mother and father (a recessive trait).

      Genetically modified babies has not been done but scientists can do this to mice. However, there would be many ethical issues in creating a ‘designer baby’.
